Yard Person
The Kelly Group are seeking a reliable and hardworking Yard Person to support daily operations in a busy yard environment. This role involves maintaining an organised, safe, and efficient yard, assisting with loading and unloading materials, and supporting the wider team as needed. The ideal candidate is physically fit, safety-conscious, and able to work in a fast-paced setting.
Role Responsibilities:
- Empty bins and move collected rubbish to recognised area for external collection
- Load and unload materials, equipment, and deliveries safely and efficiently
- Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the yard at all times
- Assist customers, drivers, and colleagues with locating and handling stock
- Operate yard equipment (e.g. forklifts, pallet trucks) where trained and authorised
- Conduct basic inspections of incoming and outgoing goods
- Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations
- Support stock control processes, including checking and recording inventory
- Carry out general labouring duties as required
- Report any damages, hazards, or maintenance issues promptly
- Ensure compliance with Health & Safety regulations
- Any other appropriate duties
Role Requirements:
- Strong work ethic and ability to work in a physically demanding role
- Good communication and teamwork skills
- Ability to work efficiently under pressure in a busy environment
- Basic understanding of health and safety practices
- Forklift licence (desirable but not essential)
- Previous yard, warehouse, or labouring experience preferred
- a full UK manual license held for a minimum of 12 months (no more than 6 points, no driving bans within the past 5 years)
- The ability to remain calm under pressure and maintain high standards at all times
