Residential Development Lawyer - Leeds - Senior Associate or Managing Associate | 3-10 years PQE

A leading national law firm is seeking an experienced residential development lawyer to join their award-winning Housebuilding & Strategic Land team in Leeds.

About the Team

This is one of the largest residential development practices in the UK, comprising 80+ lawyers across related disciplines including planning, plot sales, construction, environmental, agricultural, litigation and tax. The firm acts for the majority of top 10 and top 20 housebuilders and has recently secured several significant national housebuilder panel appointments and re-appointments.

The team advises a prestigious client base including:

• National and regional housebuilders
• Strategic land promoters
• Developers and regeneration companies
• Housing associations
• Landowners and investors
• Local authorities

Ideal Candidate Profile

The firm is seeking a technically strong, client-focused team player with proven competency in residential development work. Depending on experience level, candidates should ideally demonstrate:

Core transactional experience:

• Conditional and unconditional land contracts
• Option agreements and overage provisions
• Affordable housing transactions (golden-brick, back-to-back sales)
• Site assembly and easement matters
• Infrastructure and management agreements

Additional experience (desirable):

• Strategic land and promotion agreements
• Collaboration and hybrid agreements
• VAT and SDLT matters in development contexts
• Working knowledge of affordable housing frameworks

Professional attributes:

• Established or developing client relationships
• Track record with housebuilders, developers or landowners
• Ambitious with strong commercial awareness
• Collaborative approach and team ethos
