Part-Time Veterinary Surgeon – 24/7 Hospital – North UK

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Veterinary Surgeon to join a family-run 24/7 small animal hospital , offering a unique blend of first-opinion GP work and ECC caseload . This role is ideal for a vet with general practice experience and an interest in emergency care, surgery or inpatient management , seeking flexibility alongside clinical progression.

The Role

• Part-time position – 2 days per week

  • Wednesday: 9:00am – 6:00pm (consults)

  • Thursday: 9:00am – 8:00pm (consults)

• 1 in 4 weekends (ECC and emergency consults only)

  • Shift options: 7:30–18:00, 9:30–20:00 or 10:00–20:30

• No sole charge – always supported by a full clinical and management team

• 30-minute consults as standard for sick patients

• Involvement in a varied and complex caseload , including ECC and inpatient care

About the Practice

• RCVS-accredited 24-hour hospital and emergency service clinic

• Provides OOH and referral support to multiple local practices

• Recently expanded facilities, significantly increasing clinical space and capability

• Access to advanced equipment including external CT imaging support

• In-house expertise including certificate holders in:

  • Surgery

  • Medicine

  • Dentistry

• Strong focus on clinical freedom, case continuity and gold-standard patient care

• Regular in-house CPD, clinical discussion groups and dedicated management support

About You

• Experienced Veterinary Surgeon with a GP background

• Interest in ECC, surgery or inpatient care

• Confident managing cases with support from a collaborative team

• Keen to develop clinical interests (e.g. ophthalmology, dermatology, feline medicine)

• Positive, team-focused approach with a commitment to high standards

Salary & Benefits

• Up to £36,000 pro rata (£60,000 FTE), dependent on experience
