Childcare Support Specialist for Residential Care
Join Our Team as a Residential Childcare Support Worker
Contract: 35 hours per week plus sleep-in shifts
Salary: Base salary of £23,277.80 , with the potential to earn up to £28,893.80 per annum with sleep-in shifts
Location: Leeds
We are seeking committed and enthusiastic Residential Childcare Support Workers to join our team. This full-time role involves working 35 hours per week, plus 2 sleep-in shifts, with opportunities for additional hours.
You will work on a rota basis, which may include evenings and weekends. Flexibility in your availability is essential!

Your Role
As a Support Worker, you will engage, motivate, and encourage young people living in their individual flats or shared houses. You will ensure that the home environment is safe, welcoming, and healthy for the young people in your care.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide practical support and guidance to young people according to their individual care plans, helping them develop skills for independent living and educational success.
- Maintain positive relationships with young people, staff, and professionals through effective communication.
- Support young people in Education, Employment, and Training, assisting them in achieving accredited learning qualifications.
- Establish and maintain community links, such as educational provisions, sports centers, and youth clubs.
Requirements
- Flexibility in availability for shift work, including sleep-in nights, evenings, and weekends.
- Hold a Residential Childcare/Families Practitioner Diploma, Children and Young People's Workforce, NVQ Level 3 in Health & Social Care, or equivalent, or be willing to pursue this qualification.
- Experience working with attachment and trauma is desirable.
- Experience with challenging behavior and/or mental health issues is desirable.
- Understanding of the issues faced by young people in care.
- A full driving license and access to a vehicle is desirable, although good public transport links are available.
- Intermediate computer skills.
