As a vital member of the Surgical Preassessment team, you’ll help keep the department running smoothly and ensure every patient has a positive and reassuring experience. You will work closely with nurses, clinicians and the wider multidisciplinary team to support safe and efficient patient care. You will also provide administrative support to the new Urgent Cancer Walkover Service, helping the team coordinate rapid assessments, manage documentation and ensure that patients on urgent pathways receive timely, wellorganised care. Your daytoday responsibilities will include processing patient documentation, updating clinical IT systems and managing clinic bookings. You’ll handle incoming calls, schedule appointments, support clinic flow and complete general administrative tasks that keep the service organised. You’ll also use spreadsheets and other tools to assist with the smooth coordination of the department. The role includes reception duties, where you’ll often be the first point of contact for patients and visitors. A welcoming manner and good communication skills will help create a positive first impression and support patients during what can be an anxious time. We’re looking for someone who is organised, confident with IT systems and able to work well under pressure. The post holder will receive and check documentation, reports, patient information, processing appropriately, within departmental guidelines, including entering information on to the appropriate IT system, and retrieve information as and when required.
