Design Intern

Rubies has a fantastic opportunity for graduates seeking a career in costume design in a role that offers the chance to shadow Lead Designers and learn from industry experts.

As part of this role, you will be involved in trend and fabric reporting, CAD completion in Adobe Illustrator, completing design packs, setting up AW briefs for our costume illustrators, helping with sample photography, and much more. The successful applicant will play a pivotal role in the design process and support Lead Designers whilst learning on the job. What you will be doing / objectives of the role:

• Understand commercial design in fancy dress and GM for the UK Market by going comp shopping
• Garment construction and sampling process
• Print processes
• Enhance your AI/PSD/Clo-3D skills
• Witness a design meeting and see how the buying process works
• See how to work with licensers
• Support the design team to achieve their deadlines
• Comfortably work in a fast-paced work environment
• Confident in CAD, design pack creation, as well as using a PLM system

Key Responsibilities of the Design Intern:

• Complete design briefs set by Lead Designers. This may include: Trend and fabric reporting
• CAD completion on Adobe Illustrator and/or Clo-3D
• Completing design packs
• Updating our PLM
• Set up AW briefs for our costume illustrators
• Photographing samples
• Support in customer meetings
• Organise parcels to customers
• Steaming & prepping samples for customer meetings
• Prepping showrooms for customer meetings and photoshoots
• Maintaining costume and GM storage
• Prepare Comp Shop reports

What Rubies is looking for:

• Graduate
• Commercial eye for design
• Skilled in Illustrator and Photoshop
• A minimum of basic sewing skills

• Within commuting distance of the office.
• Clo 3D design knowledge is a plus
