This is a pivotal full-time position for a dedicated DT Technician to join a specialised technical environment in Leeds. The successful candidate will act as the vital link between ambitious curriculum goals and practical classroom execution. This role involves managing a high-spec workshop, ensuring all machinery is primed for use, and providing direct technical support to students as they navigate complex engineering projects. Requirements

• Prior experience working as a technician, ideally within an educational or training setting.
• Knowledge of COSHH and general risk assessment procedures.
• Eligibility to work in the UK.
• An Enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to apply for one).

• Technical Proficiency: Hands-on experience with wood and metal-working machinery.
• Digital Literacy: Confidence in using CAD/CAM software and associated hardware.
• Safety Consciousness: A deep-rooted understanding of workshop health and safety protocols.
• Problem Solving: The ability to troubleshoot and repair mechanical or technical issues.
• Organisation: Exceptional skills in managing inventories and physical workspaces.
• Communication: The ability to explain technical processes clearly to students and staff.

• Prepare and set up materials, tools, and equipment for all DT and Engineering lessons.
• Perform daily safety checks on all machinery and hand tools to ensure a secure environment.
• Provide at-the-bench technical assistance to students during practical sessions.
• Maintain and service specialist equipment, including lathes, milling machines, and saws.
• Manage the operation and maintenance of CAD/CAM machinery, such as 3D printers and laser cutters.
• Monitor and manage stock levels, including the ordering of consumables and specialised materials.
• Ensure all hazardous substances are stored and handled in strict accordance with COSHH regulations.
• Maintain an organised, clean, and efficient workshop and storage system.
• Assist teaching staff in the development of new project prototypes and demonstration models.
• Implement and uphold the school's Health and Safety policies to the highest standard.
