My Profile
I am a creative and intellectually curious person with a sharp, satirical sense of humour. I share my home with a neurodivergent teenager and a small, elderly lapdog. I already hold one university degree and had started a second, though I have had to defer part-way through for the time being.
I enjoy learning and have a genuine interest in the world. I value meaningful conversation with people who think critically and enjoy discussing ideas. I currently attend a woodwork group, which I enjoy for the parallel play aspect, the ability to work independently on my own projects whilst being in a shared space with a regular group of people. This allows for organic conversation and friendships to form over time.
My music interests include the Foo Fighters, RHCP, MCR, and classic Queen; for comedy, I prefer the wit of Bill Bailey or Eddie Izzard over anything shouty. I live with long-term physical pain and various neurological barriers that mean I often have to put in a massive amount of conscious effort to manage daily tasks that others might find simple.
What are the hours?Total Hours: 6 hours weekly.
Days: Monday, Wednesday, and Friday.
Preferred Times: 10:00-12:00 and 13:00-15:00.
Flexibility: Whilst these are the preferred times, some flexibility is available for the right candidate.
What are the duties?
I am looking for a PA to provide 6 hrs weekly structural support and body doubling to help me manage the cognitive and physical load of my life.
- Adaptive Capacity Management: I need someone who can be flexible based on my energy levels and pain on any given day.
- Body Doubling & Task Support: Your role involves being a consistent presence in the room whilst I tackle chores, household organisation, or university-related tasks. This external structure helps me break through task paralysis and stay on track.
- Administrative Support: Helping me navigate the paperwork and phone calls that I find physically and mentally draining. This is a practical task to help clear the backlog that builds up.
- Physical Activity: Assisting me to access the gym or engage in physical exercise on the days when my body and pain levels allow for it.
- Regulation & Safety: I experience internal panic attacks. I need a PA who can recognise the signs and use conversation as a distraction to help ground me. You may occasionally need to help me withdraw from an overwhelming situation, but this must always be done with my consent, working with me, not for me.
- Support with Appointments: Helping me plan, organise, and attend essential medical and dental appointments to reduce the exhaustion they cause.
- Nutrition & Self-Care: Providing prompts for personal hygiene and helping with meal planning and shopping to ensure I am eating regularly and managing decision fatigue.
Requirements
- Intellectual Engagement: An interest in the world and the ability to have a balanced, thoughtful conversation.
- Professional Flexibility: An understanding that my ability to function is not fixed. You must be able to adapt to my changing needs without being abrupt.
- Reliability: Clear and timely communication is essential for my planning and peace of mind.
- Logistics: I would prefer someone who has their own car with a full clean driving licence. An advanced DBS check is also required.
What we can offer
