Plant Operative

Job Purpose

The Plant Operative is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of machinery used in the production of man-made raw materials. This role involves monitoring production processes, maintaining equipment, and carrying out regular cleaning and maintenance tasks to ensure optimal plant performance and product quality.

Key Responsibilities

* Operate and monitor plant machinery involved in the production of manufactured raw materials

* Ensure production targets and quality standards are consistently met

* Carry out routine cleaning of machinery and work areas to maintain operational efficiency and safety

* Assist with basic maintenance tasks and report any faults or breakdowns promptly

* Follow all health, safety, and environmental procedures at all times

* Conduct pre-start checks and ensure equipment is functioning correctly before operation

* Work collaboratively with team members and supervisors to ensure smooth production flow

* Maintain accurate production and maintenance records as required

* Adhere to housekeeping standards to ensure a clean and safe working environment

* Respond effectively to operational issues and escalate where necessary

Skills & Experience Required

* Previous experience in a manufacturing or plant environment (preferred but not essential)

* Ability to operate industrial machinery safely and efficiently

* Good understanding of health and safety practices

* Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality

* Ability to work independently and as part of a team

* Physically fit and capable of manual handling tasks

* Willingness to work a rotating 3-shift pattern

Working Conditions

* Industrial manufacturing environment (dust, noise, and heavy machinery present)

* Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) is required at all times

* Involves standing, lifting, and manual handling

* Rotating shifts including nights, weekends, and public holidays
