English Teacher - Leeds, West Yorkshire - January 2026
A large and well-established 11–18 secondary school in Leeds is seeking a committed and reflective Teacher of English to join its successful department from January 2026. This is a full-time, permanent role within a school that places literacy, communication and critical thinking at the heart of its curriculum.
The English department is a core strength of the school, with consistently strong outcomes at both GCSE and A-Level. There is a clear, carefully sequenced curriculum in place, built around high-quality texts, explicit literacy instruction and thoughtful assessment. Teachers work collaboratively to refine schemes of learning, share resources and ensure consistency across year groups, while still being trusted to bring their own voice and creativity into the classroom.
The role will involve:
Teaching English Language and Literature across KS3–KS5
Delivering a curriculum that balances canonical texts with contemporary and diverse voices
Supporting students in developing confident written and spoken communication
Contributing to curriculum planning, assessment moderation and enrichment activities
