A Personal Assistant (PA) is required to support my autistic daughter. She requires one to one support to access activities outside of the family home. This will give her the opportunity to build her social skills and awareness of her surroundings. She has to be looked after at all times when outside due to her having little sense of danger and road safety.
My daughter is 15 years old. She enjoys trips to local parks, the cinema, museums and visits to our local cafe. She loves telling stories and enjoys the people around her joining in with her story telling. She loves to dance and sing whenever the opportunity arises, and enjoys her weekly dance classes. She loves Strictly Come Dancing.
My daughter is autistic. She has no problems communicating verbally, and is great company. When she feels anxious she requires a gentle approach to help her communicate her feelings and regulate her emotions.
The Personal Assistant will be required to do the following tasks and may be asked to carry out other tasks of a similar nature.
General
· Provide one-to-one support at home and in the wider community
· Support to develop awareness of health & safety
· Support to develop sense of road safety
· Support to access activities in the community
· Support at home and to involve her in creative activities
· Support to access social and leisure activities in the community
· Support to develop her skills in dealing with money and paying for things
· Support to access public transport.
Main duties:
■ Encourage to continue, and develop, hobbies and interests, including dance classes and singing.
■ Accompany to social events such as the cinema.
■ Support in regulating emotions when she feels overwhelmed.
These duties may vary from day to day.

■ Someone positive, and who has a good sense of humour.
■ someone with an understanding of, and experience of working with, people who are autistic.

Hours of work:
The rate of pay is currently £12.40 per hour , 4 hours per week in term time and 10 hours per week in school holidays , which can be used flexibly over evenings, weekends, and school holidays.
Skills, qualifications and experience:
■ Experience working with young people
■ Experience working in the community without direct supervision
■ Experience working with autistic children
■ An understanding of autism
■ A good listener
■ A driving licence
■ A gentle, calm approach
■ confidentiality
■ good at building relationships
Preferred:
■ Lived experience of neurodiversity
