The Role
The school is seeking an experienced and dedicated Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENCO) to lead and manage the SEND provision across the school.
The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring that students with special educational needs receive high-quality support and that staff are equipped with the knowledge and strategies required to support inclusive teaching.
Responsibilities
• Lead the development and implementation of the school’s SEND strategy
• Identify students who require additional support and coordinate interventions
• Manage and support teaching assistants and learning support staff
• Work with teachers to ensure effective differentiation within lessons
• Coordinate EHCP applications, reviews and documentation
• Liaise with parents, carers and external support services
• Monitor the progress of students with SEND and evaluate support strategies
• Maintain accurate SEND records and provision maps
• Provide staff training on inclusive teaching practices
• Ensure compliance with SEND legislation and safeguarding procedures
Requirements
• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
• National Award for SEN Coordination (or willingness to obtain)
• Experience working with SEND students in a secondary school
• Strong leadership and organisational skills
• Excellent communication and collaboration abilities
• Commitment to inclusive education and student wellbeing
