Becoming an apprentice at Axis CLC is an excellent opportunity to gain practical experience and training. You will work alongside experienced colleagues, whilst learning on the job. You will be expected to attend school/college once a week as part of your apprenticeship.

Work
Most of your apprenticeship is spent working. You’ll learn on the job by getting hands-on experience.
What you'll do at work
To assist the Commercial Team in supporting Contract Management with all commercial aspects of Reactive Maintenance Contracts. The role will involve working with the Commercial Team to ensure that Axis maximise their revenue and expected profitability.
What You’ll Deliver:
- Develop a clear understanding of Commercial Controls on all contracts
- Gain a thorough understanding of working within a specialist sector supporting UK electricity network operators
- Gain an understanding of the Schedule of Rate codes for each contract and how these are applied to pricing and work orders.
- Assist in collating, reviewing, cost substantiation and submitting of contract variations to ensure approval by the client
- Assist in the submission of Applications for Payment
- Work with the Commercial Team and Contract Management in the monitoring of material spend plant and equipment hire
- Assist in the procurement of specialist equipment and consumables
- Reviewing and analysing of information

What you'll learn
Course contents- Be able to apply and evaluate the principles for the avoidance of conflict and dispute resolution such as adjudication and arbitration between project stakeholders
- Be able to identify and manage risks of health, safety and welfare in line with legislation, hazards and safe systems of work
- Analyse costs and benefits of sustainability initiatives on a project
- Be able to advise on the legal aspects of a project and the most suitable form of contract to be used to ensure fairness and efficiency
- Be able to advise on the most suitable construction solutions that maximise value for clients and enhance the cost effectiveness of the project within the budget constraints
- Be able to advise on the appropriateness of various procurement routes and manage and report on the tendering and negotiation processes to select specialist contractors
- Advise on appropriate methods of measurement of completed works and issue documentation required for payment to specialist contractors and income from client
- Advise construction team and the client on strategies to control predicted expenditure in line with the budget
- Carry out risk assessments and implement strategies to mitigate risk
- Monitor, report and advise construction team on project cashflows and profitability. Evaluate and advise on financial implications of decisions during the construction phase
- Assess, interpret and report on progress and assist in the control of programmes during the construction phase
Training schedule
Learning will take place one day per week at University, the remainder of the week will be spent working alongside an experienced Quantity Surveyor.

Successful applicants will be able to attend a university that is within a commutable distance from home. Applicants must meet the criteria set by the university which is normally between 104-128 UCAS points. 5 GCSE at grades 4 and above including English and Maths.

Other requirements
Travel is required as part of this apprenticeship. Apprentice will be expected to travel to customers. Travel expenses will be reimbursed.
