Pension/Payroll Specialist

In this key role, you’ll play an essential part in ensuring the smooth administration of our pension schemes and supporting accurate payroll delivery across the business. Job Responsibilities
- Administer company pension schemes, including auto‑enrolment, opt‑outs, leavers, re‑enrolment cycles and contribution changes.
- Manage the day‑to‑day running of LGPS schemes, including new starters, leavers, transfers, and TUPE in/out processes.
- Ensure payroll and pension compliance with HMRC regulations, The Pensions Regulator, PAYE, National Insurance and statutory payments.
- Provide accurate monthly pension contributions processing and reconciliation, ensuring alignment with payroll outputs.
- Maintain strong working relationships with external pension providers, LGPS administrators and internal stakeholders (HR, Finance, managers).
- Respond to employee pension and pay queries, delivering clear, timely and professional customer service.
- Prepare and deliver pension-related reports, data submissions and audit information as required.
Key Requirements:
- Proven experience in pension administration, including auto‑enrolment, re‑enrolment cycles and working knowledge of LGPS schemes.
- Strong understanding of UK payroll legislation, including PAYE, National Insurance, statutory deductions and HMRC compliance.
- Skilled in using payroll systems and HRIS platforms, with the ability to ensure accuracy and integrity of employee data.
- High level of numerical accuracy and attention to detail, with the ability to reconcile complex data and support audit requirements.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to support employees, liaise with pension providers and collaborate with HR and Finance
