Graduate Structural Engineer

Passionate about good engineering and using the latest design techniques and sustainable materials to create innovative and cost-effective designs,they put great store in hiring the right staff and now seek Graduate Structural Engineers to join their team in Leeds. As a graduate engineer you would be responsible for assisting others with design work on projects and tasks, with moderate supervision, to ensure the tasks are delivered as briefed. This includes communicating with the client, other consultants and colleagues in the delivery of projects whilst maintaining a positive client relationship. As part of this role you will have a commitment to self-development and the improvement of your technical skills and knowledge. Areas of responsibility
- Execute and coordinate work as directed by senior staff
- Produce design calculations
- Assist with the preparation of sketch plans, working drawings, specifications and reports
- Assist with planning site investigation works
- Assist with preparing feasibility studies and providing design advice
- Assist with the development and use of computer-based systems to improve efficiency
- Undertake site inspection and attend site meetings
- Produce designs, assessments and calculations in accordance with quality procedures
- Liaise effectively with clients, other design team members and third parties
- Understand and adhere to existing working practices, methods and procedures
- Adopt ‘best practice’
- Work within the given programme and cost constraints
- Proactive in self-development
- University degree in civil or structural engineering Meng ideally
- Good understanding of engineering principles
- Good interpersonal skills
- Good communication skills
- Proactive approach to work
- Commitment to continual improvement at a personal and company level
- Good understanding of construction procedures
- Able to produce hand calculations and sketches of structural elements
- Knowledge of design software and its limitations
- Knowledge of AutoCAD
- Conversant in designing to British Standards/Eurocodes
- Conversant in designing structures in concrete, steelwork, timber and masonry
- Able to use computer design software packages
- Understanding of CDM regulations and the responsibilities of a designer
- Good written and verbal communication skills
- Able to produce accurate and clear sketches
