A prestigious and academically ambitious secondary school in Leeds is seeking an intellectually curious Head of Business & Economics to join its Social Sciences faculty from September. This is a permanent, full-time role in a school where Business and Economics are among the highest-uptake subjects at Key Stage 4 and 5.

The Role

• Academic Leadership: Driving the quality of teaching and learning across GCSE Business, A-Level Business, and A-Level Economics.

• Vocational Oversight: Managing the delivery of Level 2 and Level 3 vocational Business qualifications, ensuring high standards of internal verification and assessment.

• Curriculum Innovation: Integrating contemporary global case studies, fintech trends, and macroeconomic shifts into the schemes of work.

• Staff Mentoring: Leading a team of subject specialists, providing regular coaching, and supporting the professional growth of ECTs.

• Student Aspirations: Coordinating enterprise challenges, investment competitions, and guest speaker events to bring the world of work into the classroom.

The Ideal Candidate Will Have

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and a strong degree in Business, Economics, or a related field.

• Significant experience teaching Business and Economics at Key Stage 5.

• Proven leadership experience, such as a Lead Practitioner or Second in Department role.

• A deep understanding of exam board specifications (e.g., AQA, Edexcel) and a track record of high value-added results.

• Excellent analytical skills and the ability to use data to drive departmental improvement.
