Why join us?

Are you ready to become part of a supportive, nurturing community that works together to achieve the very best outcomes for its young people? Our secondary school offers a safe, inspiring environment for pupils aged 11‑16, backed by over 30 years of experience in delivering high‑quality, inclusive education. As a one‑to‑one Teaching Assistant you will play a pivotal role in shaping the learning journey of individual pupils or small groups (up to six students).

Key Responsibilities

  • Mentor and support one pupil (or a small group of up to six) on a daily basis.
  • Assist the classroom teacher during lessons, including preparation and resource adaptation.
  • Report on pupil progress and concerns, liaising with staff to ensure needs are met.
  • Supervise pupils during non‑classroom time, including extracurricular activities and school trips.
  • Build positive relationships that encourage interaction and successful learning outcomes.
  • Take on additional responsibilities in areas such as food hygiene, forest school, lunchtimes, or school yoga.

What We’re Looking For

  • Strong basic education – ideally A‑levels, with at least GCSE Grade C (or equivalent) in English Language and Mathematics.
  • Good IT skills.
  • Previous experience as a Teaching Assistant or in a similar support role.
  • Experience working with pupils who have SEMH (social, emotional, and mental health) needs.
  • Confidence in behaviour management techniques.
  • Commitment to professional development and a willingness to learn.
  • Willingness to undergo an enhanced Disclosure & Barring Service (DBS) check (cost covered by the employer).

Working Conditions & Support

  • Full‑time, term‑time schedule with a clear 12‑month contract.
  • Enhanced DBS check required – funded by the organization.
  • Access to a supportive team that values emotional health and wellbeing.
  • Opportunities to develop new skills through a wide range of professional training.

Benefits & Perks

  • Competitive salary within the stated range.
  • Company pension scheme and life assurance.
  • Employee discount scheme.
  • A workplace that prioritises your wellbeing.
  • Chance to make a meaningful impact on the lives and learning of vulnerable young people.
  • Friendly, inclusive team culture focused on pupil outcomes.

Opportunities for Growth

We are committed to your professional development. You will have access to training programmes, mentorship, and pathways to progress into senior support roles, specialist areas (e.g., SEN coordination), or further education qualifications.

Equal Opportunity & Safeguarding

The organization is an equal‑opportunity employer and actively encourages applications from all suitably qualified candidates. We are dedicated to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people, and vulnerable adults, and expect every staff member to share this commitment.
