Commercial Underwriter (Highly Prestigious Insurer) - Leeds
Description
We are delighted to be partnering with this world-leading insurance company that is seeking a Commercial Underwriter in Leeds.
Our client operates in over 20 countries, and is very much renowned as a world-leader within its chosen markets.
Not only does the company provide crucial financial protection to a diverse range of customers, it also provides its employees with some of the most attractive career development opportunities in the market.
This business is enjoying tremendous growth, and as a result, has recently moved into new, state of the art offices within one of Leeds City Centre’s most iconic buildings.
Many people who join this company cite, “this is the best place I have ever worked at”. It is genuinely difficult to find a company that invests so heavily in its staff because they want them to benefit from “proper careers, where every member of staff has a mentor.” We visited the office recently, and because of the company’s growth, it was difficult to find someone who hadn’t recently had, or was in the process of working towards, a promotion!
The role is based within the renewals department, dealing with a wide variety of fascinating risks including, but not limited to Professional Management Risks, Social Welfare, Care, Not For Profit and Charity policies. Underwriters within this team tell us that the cases are extremely interesting, and no day is the same.
Specific duties will include, but not be limited to, underwriting renewal cases, collaborating with the Claims team, as well as developing and maintaining excellent working relationships with the Technical department and the wider business. You’ll provide excellent service to brokers, prioritising renewals and mid-term adjustments to ensure deadlines are met. Being a growing business that very much listens to, and implements employees’ great ideas and suggestions, you’ll have the opportunity to get involved in some really interesting ad hoc projects and make a real difference.
It is not essential that you have previous experience within the above product lines as full training will be provided. However, you must have some underwriting experience encompassing Property / Liability / Commercial Combined OR Financial Lines insurance. It may be that you are currently an Insurance Broker, who has underwritten via delegated authority schemes. It’s essential that you are well-organised and efficient, and as you’ll regularly be dealing with brokers, you’ll be engaging and professional.
“I really want to stress that this is NOT a ‘dead-end’ underwriting role”, says the Director. “We are extremely passionate about developing our staff, and this role has the genuine potential to progress into a number of different areas, such as Senior Underwriting, General Management, Technical, Compliance, Sales and more.”
Our client operates a hybrid-working arrangement, allowing you to work 2 days from home. The team are well-renowned in the industry for their friendly, supportive and collaborative environment, and there are lots of sports and social events available, including an incredible annual summer ball!
You’ll be rewarded with a generous basic salary (Negotiable depending on experience), plus a market-leading 20% bonus scheme and impressive corporate benefits, which include substantial pension contributions and financial bonuses for passing CII qualifications.
