Job Description for a Specialist ADHD Nurse job in Leeds
As a Specialist ADHD Nurse (RMN) , you will be responsible for assessing, diagnosing, and managing ADHD in patients across various age groups. You will work closely with a multidisciplinary team to provide specialist support, ensuring that each individual receives the highest quality of care. Key Responsibilities of a Specialist ADHD Nurse
- Conduct ADHD assessments, including diagnostic interviews and symptom evaluations.
- Develop and implement personalized care plans based on patient needs.
- Support patients in managing ADHD symptoms through evidence-based interventions.
- Prescribe and monitor ADHD medications (if qualified as a Non-Medical Prescriber ).
- Provide psychoeducation to patients, families, and caregivers about ADHD and coping strategies.
- Collaborate with psychiatrists, psychologists, therapists, and other healthcare professionals to deliver holistic care.
- Maintain accurate patient records and ensure compliance with clinical guidelines.
- Deliver training and support to healthcare staff on ADHD management.
- Participate in service development initiatives to improve ADHD care pathways.
Essential Requirements for Specialist ADHD Nurse job in Leeds
- Registered Mental Health Nurse (RMN) with an active NMC registration .
- Experience in assessing and managing ADHD in children, adolescents, or adults.
- Strong understanding of ADHD medications, treatment strategies, and NICE guidelines.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships with patients and families.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Knowledge of safeguarding procedures and mental health legislation.
Qualifications and Experience
- Non-Medical Prescriber (NMP) qualification (or willingness to train).
- Experience working in ADHD, neurodevelopmental, or CAMHS services.
- Additional training in cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) or other psychological interventions.
- Experience in delivering ADHD group therapy sessions or psychoeducation workshops.
