Management Accountant

An established UK manufacturing business in West Leeds is seeking an experienced accountant with prior exposure to the manufacturing sector. The business combines a stable trading history with ongoing investment in systems, processes and people.

The role sits within a small but capable finance function and will report into a senior finance lead. It is a broad, hands-on position offering exposure across statutory accounting, management reporting and manufacturing finance, working closely with both operational and commercial stakeholders.

Key responsibilities include:

• Preparation of monthly management accounts with supporting commentary and analysis
• Production of balance sheet reconciliations and oversight of core ledgers
• Support with year-end accounts and audit processes
• Development and maintenance of standard costing and product costings
• Analysis of variances across labour, materials and overheads
• Stock valuation, work-in-progress reporting and inventory controls
• Support with budgeting, forecasting and cash flow reporting
• Financial analysis to support operational and commercial decision-making
• Continuous improvement of reporting, controls and finance processes

Candidate profile:

• Qualified or part-qualified accountant (ACA / ACCA / CIMA or equivalent)
• Experience within a manufacturing, engineering or product-led environment
• Strong grounding in management and financial accounting
• Practical understanding of costing, stock and WIP accounting
• Comfortable working with operational teams outside of finance
• Good Excel skills and experience of ERP or integrated finance systems
• Detail-focused, with the ability to step back and interpret numbers
• Able to work independently in a hands-on SME or group setting

Package and working pattern:

• Salary in the region of £40,000 – £50,000 depending on experience
• Full-time, permanent role
