Paralegal
THE ROLE & TEAM
This is an exciting opportunity for a Paralegal to join a growing Corporate Defence & Compliance team, working closely with a Partner on a broad range of financial services regulatory matters. The role is highly hands-on and offers early exposure to complex and interesting work, making it ideal for someone ambitious and keen to build a long-term legal career. You’ll join a collaborative specialist team working across financial services regulation, corporate defence, investigations, and tax. The team advises a wide range of clients, including banks, lenders, and well-known commercial brands, covering non-contentious matters.
On a day-to-day basis you will be responsible for conducting legal research, drafting advice and assisting with regulatory assessments and FCA-related work. You will have exposure across advisory, compliance, and investigative work, supporting clients on regulatory queries, compliance frameworks, and breach investigation.
This role will be based out of our Leeds office, with occasional travel (1-2 days per month) on site with clients.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
• Support the Partner and wider team on financial services regulatory matters
• Conduct legal and regulatory research to support client advice
• Assist with drafting policies, procedures, and regulatory advice notes
• Support compliance reviews, audits, and regulatory assessments
• Assist with investigations and the management of regulatory breaches
• Analyse financial services products and activities for regulatory classification
• Support FCA applications and regulatory notifications
• Manage multiple matters, ensuring deadlines and priorities are met
• Provide file management and administrative support, including file notes
• Attend client meetings and support advisory and scoping calls
• Contribute to training content, knowledge resources, and internal documentation
• Support business development, marketing activity, and wider team initiatives
ABOUT YOU
• Educated to degree would be beneficial (any discipline considered)
• Previous paralegal or legal support experience is beneficial but not essential
• Bright, enthusiastic, and motivated to build a long-term career in law
• Strong work ethic with a proactive and “hands-on” approach
• Exposure to financial services, regulatory, or criminal law is advantageous
• Highly organised, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
• Analytical and curious, with a genuine interest in problem-solving
• Confident communicator who is comfortable engaging with clients and colleagues
• A team player who thrives in a collaborative, in-office environment
• Commercial awareness and interest in financial services regulation
• Interest in developing client relationships, networking, and business development skills
• Willingness to learn, get involved, and contribute to a growing team
• Open to candidates from a range of backgrounds, including those looking to transition into law
