An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced Private Client Solicitor to join a highly regarded specialist team based in Leeds. This is a senior-level role within a well-established practice that focuses on complex, high-value private client work and offers a genuinely supportive and flexible working environment.

The Opportunity

You will join a large and highly experienced Private Client team recognised for handling complex estates of significant value, including agricultural and business assets, cross-border matters and intestacy work. The team is widely respected for its technical expertise and long-standing client relationships, many of which span generations.

The role offers exposure to high-quality, intellectually engaging work, alongside a strong culture of collaboration and knowledge sharing. You will act as a trusted advisor to clients, many of whom are long-established relationships of the team.

Key Responsibilities

• Full estate administration, including complex and high-value estates
• Advising on estates involving agricultural property, business assets and cross-border elements
• Managing intestate estates and applications for grants of representation
• Preparing inheritance tax accounts and dealing with HMRC enquiries
• Calculating inheritance tax liabilities and advising on mitigation strategies
• Drafting estate accounts and post-death documentation
• Advising on deeds of variation, disclaimers and tax planning opportunities
• Advising on trusts, including creation, variation and compliance requirements
• Supporting capital tax planning, asset protection and succession planning strategies
• Advising on wills, powers of attorney and related estate planning documents
• Advising on the use of trusts and life insurance in estate planning
• Ensuring compliance with trust registration and regulatory requirements

About You

This role is suited to a technically strong Private Client Solicitor who enjoys complex, high-value work and building long-term client relationships.

Key requirements:

• Qualified Solicitor with 5+ years’ PQE in Private Client law
• Strong experience in complex estate administration and tax planning
• Confident handling high-value and technical private client matters
• Excellent communication and client relationship skills
• Strong academic background
• High level of accuracy and attention to detail
• Ability to manage a varied caseload independently
• Strong collaborative approach and willingness to support the wider team

Desirable:

• STEP qualification (or working towards it)
