Special Needs Teaching Assistants – Wetherby (North Leeds)

Career Teachers are looking to appoint enthusiastic and dedicated Special Needs Teaching Assistants to support specialist schools in Wetherby, North Leeds , beginning immediately after the Easter break and continuing through to the end of the academic year.

We are partnering with welcoming SEN provisions that cater for children and young people with:

• Autism and communication needs
• Social, Emotional & Mental Health (SEMH) needs
• Moderate to complex learning difficulties
• Physical or sensory needs
• Developmental and interaction challenges

The Role

As a SEN Teaching Assistant, you will play a key part in helping pupils access learning, develop confidence, and build independence. Responsibilities include:

• Providing 1:1 or small‑group support tailored to individual needs
• Assisting teachers with adapted learning activities and structured routines
• Using positive behaviour approaches to encourage engagement
• Helping create a calm, safe and supportive classroom environment
• Working collaboratively with teachers, therapists and other support staff

Who We’re Looking For

We welcome candidates who are:

• Passionate about supporting children with additional needs
• Patient, nurturing, and resilient
• Experienced in SEN settings or have transferable skills from care, youth work, or similar roles
• Good communicators who enjoy working as part of a team
• Willing to obtain a DBS on the update service if not already in place
